The Western Skyline Podcast – Autumn podcasts

There was no Western Skyline in August as the I was working on the day it was due to go out. And as it was a live outside broadcast during the Cruinniú na mBád weekend … well, I couldn’t even pre-record a show for you!

So, here are links to the two Autumn shows:

05 OCTOBER 2019

October’s show showcased the debut album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Brigid O’Neill, and there’s news of festivals for children and adults, new exhibitions, and a preview of the Kinvara Talks. Plus the long-promised play of Hurricane and other great tracks from Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, & Bruce Springsteen,.

07 SEPTEMBER 2019

Marion Cox dropped into the studio to chat about this year’s Lady Gregory/Yeats Autumn Gathering. There’s more arts news, and music from Badly Drawn Boy, Paul Simon, Annie Lennox, Billy Joel, and Paul Weller. Enjoy!

The Western Skyline Podcast – 08 September 2018

The Western Skyline was delighted to welcome back writer Marion Cox to the show – this time as the administrator of the Lady Gregory-Yeats Autumn Gathering at Coole Park. Lots of info about this year’s programme, plus a lovely reading by Marion of one of Yeats’s poems about Major Robert Gregory. The Gathering takes place from 28-30 September, in Gort, Coole Park, Kiltartan, and Thoor Ballylee.

Plus a quick look at local events on Culture Night which takes place on Friday 21st. And great music – of course! Hope you enjoy the show.

The Western Skyline Podcast – 04 November 2017

The Western Skyline was delighted to host two poets who have contributed to ‘Bosom Pals’ a new poetry collection by eight women who share their experience of breast cancer. ALL proceeds from the book go to Breast Cancer Research Ireland – a national organisation based in Galway. With a foreward by Prof. Michael Kerin and introduction by Áine Lawlor, this is a book to dip into alone, or to share with friends. You can buy it via breastcancerresearch.ie or at Charlie Byrnes in Galway. Kudos to editor Marie Cadden for making it all happen.
Music today from fab female singers: Sheryl Crow, Anastacia, Kylie, Marianne Faithful, & Carly Simon. The common thread? They have all survived breast cancer.
Enjoy the show!
And think about buying the book – it would make a great gift as we head towards Christmas.
Here are some links about the book:
